7 Effective Ways to Get Rid of Foot Fungus

Fungal infections can affect anyone at any time, and some people are more susceptible to them than others. Athlete’s foot, jock itch and ringworm can appear on your feet as well as other parts of your body, but when you’re talking about athlete’s foot, you really only want to focus on the toes (which is why it’s sometimes called toenail fungus). Here are seven effective ways you can use to cure this stubborn condition and stop it from coming back again.

1- Natural remedies

Tea tree oil, oregano oil and lavender oil are often used in essential oils for their antifungal properties. 2. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to your feet before bedtime and wear socks to prevent the oils from being absorbed by your sheets. 3. Apply fresh lemon juice or apple cider vinegar onto infected areas with a cotton ball every day before you shower or bathe and dry the area afterward with a towel.

2- Identify what causes fungus

Foot fungus is caused by a type of yeast that grows on the skin. Some people are more prone to it because they have more sweat glands in their feet, which can make it easier for the yeast to grow. This type of fungus also thrives in moist, warm environments with little air circulation and will often develop after wearing shoes without socks or going barefoot on damp surfaces.

3- Monitor any health issues

If you have athlete's foot, be sure to wear socks and keep your feet dry. Wash them regularly with soap and dry them thoroughly. If you have a fungal infection on your skin, be sure to apply an anti-fungal cream or lotion at least twice a day for as long as it takes for the problem area to improve.

4- Wear clean socks at all times

Wearing clean socks is a great way to prevent foot fungus. Wash your feet and dry them thoroughly before putting on socks and make sure they're new or have been washed at least once in the past three months. If you can't stand wearing socks, try tucking your toes into a pair of flip flops while you're at home or wearing sandals as much as possible. This will keep your feet dry and fungus-free!

5- Go barefoot as much as possible

Wearing shoes during the day can trap moisture and bacteria under the foot, which can lead to a fungal infection. The best way to avoid getting fungi is by wearing sandals or going barefoot as much as possible. Going without shoes will also help dry out your feet, which will reduce the likelihood that fungus will form.

6- Try medication when needed

Sometimes the home remedies and better hygiene just won't be enough to solve your fungal infection.
